We aged this Zinfandel in a combination of American, French and Hungarian Oak.  The yeast that was selected enhances the fruit characteristics and our fermentation to dryness wine making style makes this a nice stand-alone wine.  The western slopes of the Sierras are known for their crisp bright wines stemming from the from the hot days and cool nights created by the natural convection pulling cold air over the mountains as the sun sets.  The grapes have a pure clean source of mountain water from the snow melt filtered by the decomposed granite from the peaks of the Sierras.  The hot days and cool nights stress the vines forcing them to pull the nutrients and minerals from deep below the surface into the vines thru respiration making complex vineyard unique wines.  The Sierra Foothill El Dorado county AVA is known for its big fruit peppery Zinfandels.
