Description
A Beautiful almost Black Wine
2012 Storyline™ Syrah El Dorado County Sierra Foothills Vineyard
A full-bodied, big, bold Syrah with earthy notes, leather and jammy blackberry flavors, and a hint of licorice when it comes to room temperature.
This is a fabulous Syrah that commands your attention with its dark, rich almost black color, excellent nose, medium acids and nice and big well balanced tannins.
Syrah is a favorite drink-alone wine and pairs well with fig or plum flavors in Asian cuisine, barbecued pork with a sweet hot barbecue sauce.
Aged in a combination of French & Hungarian Oak with a yeast specifically selected to bring out the earthiness, the fruit and give you a big mouth feel with a lasting finish. The western slope of the Sierra Foothills in El Dorado county benefits from clean crisp, underground water from the snow melt, and nice acidic soil created from the decomposed granite and decomposition of the pine trees. The west slope Sierra convection created from the cool air being drawn over the mountains into the valley, creates the perfect climate for the Syrah grape. The hot sunny day’s force respiration and the cool nights shut the grapes down. This back and forth draws water and nutrients through the vine and into the fruit, allowing the grape to pick up the flavors of the vineyard and minerals deep below the surface creating complex and delicious wines. The older the grapes the more developed the root system and the more interesting the wine can be.
